Journey to Sustainable Tourism – the theme of the 6th BBTF 2019
Bali, Indonesia – Sustainable tourism destinations have become key components for experiencing the culture and lifestyle of any destination and growing travel motivation nowadays. Tourism activities that linked to sustainable has become, in many countries, initiators and enablers for regional development, representing a growing segment with immense opportunities to diversify demand, attract new investments in increase regional employment, moreover, it provides another innovative approach to the sustainable preservation of cultural heritage to be developed in destinations. The 6th BBTF 2019 has chosen the theme for this year travel fair not only to raise an awareness nationally or regionally but as well to bring the participation in the global tourism movements.
As noted that Indonesian Travel and Tourism is growing as twice as fast as a global average. Tourism growth in Indonesia was recorded as one of the best in the world and among the top 20 fastest growing travel destination which means that the nation’s growth rate is on par with the global standard recorded last year. All efforts are choreographed by the Minister of Tourism in collaboration with tourism stakeholders. Indonesia to become a global player by exposing untouched natural wealth, cultural, arts, traditions and the latest as the shopping and gastronomy destination across the country.
Based on the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) this year’s research have shown that: Travel & Tourism in Indonesia grew at 7.8% in 2018 – double the global average of 3.9% and ahead of Indonesia’s wider economy. This contributed 6.0% to Indonesia’s GDP, worth IDR 890,428 bn (USD$62.6 billion) when all direct, indirect and induced effects are taken into consideration.
Travel & Tourism supports 10.3% of all Indonesia’s employment, or 13 million jobs GDP contribution is projected to grow by 5.2% in 2019. One in three of all tourism jobs in the ten countries that make up South East Asia, are located in Indonesia. This makes Indonesia the third largest Travel & Tourism economy in South East Asia after Thailand and the Philippines. There was a remarkable increase in business spending last year, which now accounts for 30% of tourism spend in Indonesia compared to 70% leisure.
In total, international tourists spent nearly IDR 221,000 bn (USD $15.5 billion) in Indonesia last year, accounting for 6.8% of total exports. The largest inbound international markets were Singapore (15%); Malaysia (14%); China (13%); Australia (11%); and Japan (5%).

This year BBTF 2019 will have 232 sellers and 303 buyers from 46 countries with estimation of transaction IDR 9,06 Trillion. BBTF 2019 will also host speakers who address the opportunities, trends and industry insights as well as highlight the diversity of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
Renowned as Indonesia’s leading International Travel and Tourism Fair. BBTF brings sellers and buyers together in a single forum annually. This is the 6th year of BBTF – the event was initiated and organized by The Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Bali chapter and until now is consider to be one of important Tourism fair in Indonesia. BBTF 2019 will be held at a prestigious leading convention and exhibition Centre from 26-28 June 2018 - Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) Bali - located within a secured beachfront enclave surrounded by many branded international hotels and resorts that are all within walking distance.

BBTF is an annual event with the intention to establish a benchmark for travel & tourism events and destinations in Indonesia. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism Indonesia, BBTF held a B2B event and aims to advance the tourism industry through business sessions and direct promotion of best practices in MICE and Leisure management.
BBTF represents the full spectrum of tourism at all levels including the hospitality sector, tour operators or travel agencies, National Tourism Organizations, Convention and Visitors Bureaus, travel technology firms, MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) and corporate travel representatives as well as regional’s new destinations.
Together with exhibitors and buyers from numerous countries around the world, BBTF facilitates Pre-Scheduled Appointments (PSA) and business sessions for buyers and sellers to negotiate on their long-term leisure and corporate travel needs. Corporations, travel agents, hotel & resort chains, cruise operators, convention planners, venue operators and travel buyers can leverage the two and half days of business to business sessions to enhance their respective brands in the Indonesian and Asia Pacific markets.
In addition to the B2B sessions, the travel fair will have an extensive program of activities for all delegates. From the fantastic networking events, to the inspirational knowledge program, the business of meetings has never been so rewarding. Bali was chosen as the venue because it is the gateway to Indonesia’s Archipelago for global travelers and the island contributes up to 40% of all visitors to the nation each year.
